Blessed to have seen another good week of basketball as there are always great match ups during the Thanksgiving week tournaments. It's harder than ever before to get a gauge on the top teams but we're going to keep this conversation going about OUR girls with our weekly updated power rankings. Several teams will be getting on the court for the first time this week and I know those young ladies and coaches have to be excited! Check out each classification rankings below.
Class 5A
5A combined is the toughest division from top to bottom and they have several teams that are still undefeated in Ponchatoula, Mt. Carmel, Southwood & Walker. This classification is wide open with several teams in the top 10-15 that could beat anyone in the state on any given night. When you add a Parkway who has yet to get on the court and a Captain Shreve who has been fighting despite not having a full team it's going to be fun to see these teams down the stretch.

Class 4A
4A had a heavy weight match up last night as Karr traveled to Ellender with Ellender coming out on top in a close one. Other than that game there is not much movement in the 4A classification as Huntington holds onto the top spot with LaGrange not playing many games during the break. The surprise team to look out for that has now cracked the top 10 is Plaquimine. Here's a look ahead to upcoming key matchups this week.

Class 3A
Class 3A is the hardest classification to get a grasp on with a couple of the top teams just getting on the court this week and others being out for Covid after a quick start. Not much movement overall but looking through this list it should would be great to bring all these teams together would make for an amazing playoff environment!

Class 2A
The 2A classification has really heated up since last week! With Lake Arthur off to a hot start at 5-0 and two massive matchups vs. Fairview and Hicks this week. LCA has not looked back after a loss early to South Beau and they are now 4-1 with big wins last week. Amite also got things started adding a big win at West Monroe. A lot will unfold this week as several of the top 10 teams either play each other or play other big name teams from another classification. 2A basketball is a fun style of basketball to watch!

The lower classifications in the state are in off to a hot start and competing in higher classifications as well as against each other! In a recap of last week Fairview bested Hicks at STM tournament in one of the best early games of the year. As we look ahead to some more big match ups in the tournament this week at South Beau more movement to this classification could be on the horizon.
