Believe it or not we're almost a third of the way through the season! It's been an emotional roller coster for everyone involved ever since we lost our summer. With several teams being in and out of competition it's been a true blessing to get back on the court this season and I've seen OUR girls/coaches really competing as if this could be their last game every time out! Like I expressed before I'm just thankful for the LHSAA as they deserve a lot of credit for pushing through this season and giving our girls this opportunity. It's been great to get on the court this year and forget about all the crazy things going on even if it's only an escape for a couple hours a day. Those of us that love sports truly know how much this means to everyone involved so again thank you LHSAA for these memories!
Class 5A
All the classifications are starting to shape up a little more as we are now over 4 weeks into the season and most all teams have played a handful of games! We still have four teams undefeated in 5A as Parkway was finally able to get back on the court this past week! Ponchatoula and MCA seemed to be in mid-season form as they are finding ways to win a lot of games and both are versus quality opponents. Both teams look to be early favorites to win their classification.

Class 4A
The top half of 4A continues to send a message to the rest of the state as all teams have sent a message these past two week! Huntington has beat several teams on the list throughout the classifications and it looks like LaGrange is back to full strength with the addition of LSUE signee Deja Tanks! Deja helped LaGrange to a big win over Liberty this past week but Liberty bounced back with an impressive win over Doyle (2A #4). Rounding out the top four is Easton as they are back off of quarantine and seem to be getting better each game out!

Class 3A is another classification that seems to be shaping up as more teams are playing more games these past couple of weeks. St. Louis holds the top spot with an impressive undefeated record of 10-0. Ursuline Academy picked up a big win at Madison Prep last week. Madison Prep will look to bounce back with a big top four match up versus Albany in the Episcopal tournament. A team to keep an eye out for is South Beauregard as they are still undefeated and have cracked the top 5 this week!
FYI - Mansfield is the best .500 team in the entire state look for them to keep climbing this list!

If there is one thing we can say about the 2A classification is these top teams will play anyone anywhere regardless of classification they are all looking for good games! LCA is on an 8 game win streak and knocking on the door of Lake Arthur trying to take over the number 1 spot as the district rivals will look to settle it on the court since they play each other twice this year! Amite's only two losses come to two 5A teams who are both in the top 10 of our rankings. Rounding out the top 4 is Doyle as they are traveling and taking on all the top teams in the state preparing to defend their state championship come late February.

Class 1A/B/C
Fairview leads this group as they continue to build on that undefeated season notching some big wins along the way they are arguably the best team in the state regardless of classification with the really fast style of play! Everyone in the top 10 of this group will end up with a 20+ win season and a deep run into the playoffs so it's always fun to recap the week they are having as some really good basketball is being played in the lower classifications of Louisiana!
